The Day of Arugula
The day started with two hours of class that eventually adjourned and our professor (Jeff) forced us to find our way to The British Museum ourselves, and suggested that we take the 30 minute walk instead of taking The Tube (and the walk was actually 55 minutes and Jeff blamed it on google).
So cut past the museum (typical museum, but still beautiful), we went to a little cafe for Lunch called La Roccia. Very quaint and small and could barely fit our 11 person group, but we still managed. I got the first appetizing and recognizable meal (which was mozzarella, avocado, grilled chicken, tomato and pesto on a baguette) I had seen in London and it filled me up for a vast majority of the day.
A mile of walking, 1 plug adapter (because American plugs), and two Tube transfers later I walked up to The Tower Bridge (also probably known as the London Bridge) and it was one of the best views ever, I could not stop taking pictures.
Close to the bridge was the Tower of London where the crowned jewels are and I’ll have to go see them at a different time because we didn’t stop to take the tour. After we walked around for a million hours we finally decided to go back by our college and walked around until we found a pub, which ended up being the Beehive.
The Beehive had an extensive menu of wines (aka never coming home), ciders, and beer… I went with the safe choice of a pint of Apple cider to end my trying day of sight-seeing. I also ordered a smoked chicken salad… and the salad part is all Arugula… which they don’t tell you…. and Arugula is very bitter…. so I regretted every second of that decision, besides the cider of course.
At the end of our pub experience we all decided that a trip to Tesco (a London liquor store/market chain) to purchase some wine to take back to the dorms (which is legal because.. London) to accompany an episode of the Bachelorette.
So currently I am finishing a mini bottle of Yellow Tail (what an American I am) Pinot Grigio while watching Kaitlyn talk about her heart pounding in her chest.
Cheers!
P.S. I was just informed that I have been using a men’s bathroom since arriving at the dorms, although I have never seen a boy in that bathroom- or anyone for that matter. So I will continue using it and declare it as my bathroom- updates to come.
